I have seem some posts recently from folks talking about increasing their post count. While the number of posts would seem to be a rather useless measure, it is clear that it is important to some. With that in mind, I wanted to offer some tips to help folks get that high count they want. Obviously, I don't claim to be an expert on this -- I certainly don't follow these rules myself.

It is a marathon not a sprint.

While it is possible to make 100 posts or more in a single day, that is simply not going to be a sustainable pace for most people. Set a realistic target of 20 to 30 posts and day and consistently achieve it. In time, you will meet your post target.

Don't worry about creativity.

I've provided 13 specific posts below which you can use. If you are creative, you can add more to the list but if not, you can repeat and use those posts alone to achieve total post counts approaching 10,000.

Make multiple posts on each thread at the same time.

Why make one post when you can make from 2 to 5? If you think about it, most thoughts can be expressed in a few words -- 3 to 5. If you are averaging more than 6 or 7 words per post you are making it that much more difficult to achieve your post count goals. Get into a rhythm -- 2 to 5 words then "Post Now".

Don't worry about spelling.

In the time it takes to review and correct spelling errors, you could submit another post. Folks who don't have you on ignore will probably figure out what you mean and, if not, so what?

Simple posts work just fine.

Here are some examples of posts you can use again and again. Don't bother with capital letters or punctuation, it will just slow you down.
"good post"
"great post"
"thanks for participating in the forums"
"thanks for being on topic"
"thats sad"
"thats funy"
"welcome to the forums"
"keep posting"
"thats trajic"

Don't be afraid to repeat.

If you find a thread with 5 or 6 posts, you have a great opportunity to generate a bunch of posts yourself by responding to each of the and quoting the earlier post. This adds a bit of "volume" to your post which will actually be your typical 2-5 word response. If you like the post, use "thats great" or something like that and if not use "thats sad" or something similar.

Start your own threads.

Starting your own threads is easy. With 6 billion people on the earth, something is happening all the time. Yahoo India is a great source of stories about a country with over 1 billion people. BBC is great for those left-leaning stories that really add to forums. And what about celebrities? Each day, celebrities are dying, getting married, making new recordings, or just being bad. Sure, most folks won't read your threads but who cares -- the posts still count!

Add a signature

If you add a signature to your profile, it will appear along with every one of your posts making them appear to be more substantial than they are. Typing 10 words of signature one time will add that many words to your average posts count.

Dealing with critics.

Some folks just don't appreciate the effort and hard work it takes to build up to a super high post count and they will generate all kinds of criticism. You can ignore them, of course, but why not use 2 or 3 of these quick comebacks each time -- and each one adds to your post count. Here are some examples.
"your folloing me"
"your obsesst with me"
"your attention is flatterin"
"i said i wouldnt go out with you"

Don't get distracted

If you lose focus and start trying to make substantive comments on various threads, you are going to slow your progress in achieving your posting goals. Just remember, every 30 word post responding to an issue could have been 8 or 9 posts on another thread.

Here is the official notification of the censorhip of the above post and a number of replies which were not saved by the Ocala Star Banner.

I deleted a recent thread by Pilot-in-fla, not because it was necessarily offensive or broke any other forum rules. In fact the post was clever and quite humorous. However, in recent conversations with Pilot and Shiva (Patriotic), the three of us agreed that the two of them would not engage themselves in any personal discussion or criticism.

Both have contacted me numerous times about the other. They have been in a feud on this site for many months now. Fine. But I can't be asked to choose a side when both sides are in the wrong. I don't know where/when it started, but it's getting out of control.

Pilot's thread violated the rules of our agreement, although in a very clever and not-so-obvious way.

The thread is gone. Pilot stays ... for now.

It is because Eric Barns is a A $ s wipe on a power trip who thinks he owns the forum. I wish every one on this forum posted as often as you do on osb. I hate the thought of going back there.
