California has made a name for itself (as a laughingstock) by crafting regulations to control almost everything and rarely has a proposed regulation been considered to be too ridiculous to implement.
But they may have outdone themselves with a new requirment to ban black automobiles in the neverending battle against global warming. But, when you think about it, having a silly regulation to address an imaginary problem makes perfect sense -- for California.
Now this proposed regulation is just absurd but California is also looking into controlling individual house thermostats so that they don't have to build more powerplants to meet increasing energy demand. And, when you think about it, since air conditioning didn't even exist in most houses 40-50 years ago, who really needs it. And those who do can get a permit from the state.
